Bornite

Massive, fine-grained bornite, tarnished dark blue to violet, with anhedral masses of coarse-grained, golden-yellow chalcopyrite and a little pale gray calcite. This is an old specimen with a tiny, discolored, and nearly illegible label glued to its base. The original owner is unknown, but subsequent owners include Lee Areson (LA 284) and Pete J. Dunn (Z-790). The Franklin Mineral Museum acquired this specimen in September 2010 upon its purchase of the bulk of the Dunn collection.
