The front of this specimen as photographed shows a large and rich mass of bornite with characteristic tarnish, associated with minor sphalerite and chalcopyrite. The sulfide mass is in contact with granular tephroite(?) and subordinate sphalerite in a matrix of red-fluorescent calcite. The specimen was collected in August 1979 by miner John Kolic and was no. 279 in his extensive collection, the whole of which was purchased in December 2013 by the Sterling Hill Mining Museum.
