Azurite

A vein of fibrous, deep blue azurite in a fine-grained, friable, dominantly olive-green matrix (nontronite?).  The cross-fiber habit shows the vein opened nearly perpendicular to the vein walls.  Fibrous azurite is rare from the Franklin-Sterling Hill area, but additional specimens are known.  Ex Ray Latawiec collection; now specimen SHMM-1987 of the Sterling Hill Mining Museum.
