FLINKITE



Flinkite, a manganese arsenate hydroxide mineral, was reported from Franklin by Cook (1973) and verified by [Dunn]. It occurs as 0.5-1.0 mm clusters of platy crystals which are very dark yellow-brown with a slightly resinous luster. The composite edges of stacked crystals can appear very dark brown; the pinacoidal surface is much brighter and appears sub-semimetallic in luster. Flinkite occurs associated with jarosewichite, cahnite, hausmannite, and roméite, in vugs in a green andradite/franklinite matrix. Additional descriptive information was provided by King (1993). Flinkite has not been reported from Sterling Hill. (Dunn, 1995)
