An uncommonly large allanite crystal, slightly more than 15 cm long, embedded in microcline-quartz pegmatite rock from a locality about 14 km southwest of Franklin. This crystal was found in 2005 by Earl Verbeek in a boulder of recently blasted rock from a site being cleared for a housing development adjacent to County Route 517 near Perona Farms. The rubble from that operation has since been removed or covered.
