New Jersey Rock and Mineral Clubs



The Franklin-Ogdensburg Mineralogical Society Inc, (FOMS) supports the collection and study, research and publication on the minerals, mineralogy, and geology, and mining history of the Franklin-Ogdensburg area of New Jersey. The club works closely with the Franklin Mineral Museum and Sterling Hill Mining Museum, hosts monthly digs and meetings, and Spring and Fall mineral shows in Franklin, NJ.

We are providing these links to other clubs and societies in New Jersey for the benefit of those interested in the hobby.


Cape-Atlantic Rockhounds Club – Cologne, New Jersey

The Cape-Atlantic Rockhounds Club is a non-profit organization founded in 1961. The club exists to further the interest of the community in geology, fossils, and lapidary.

Monthly Meetings – First Thursday of each month @ 7:30 PM
Meetings are held at the Club House at 2653 Cologne Ave. Cologne, NJ 08213. Between RT. 322 & RT. 30 – SR. 614.




Delaware Valley Earth Science Society – Berlin, New Jersey

The Delaware Valley Earth Science Society, Inc., a non-profit organization, was founded in 1956 to promote the interests of mineralogy, paleontology, lapidary arts, archeology, and location preservation. The society supports the conservation of natural resources, advocates the availability of collecting sites, and maintains close contact with those in the academic field. The DVESS originated and hosts the annual SuperDigg event, first held at Trotter Dump in 1999, then Sterling Hill, and now the Franklin Museum, on the Saturday of the last full weekend in April.

Meetings are held at the Waterford Township Senior Citizen Building at 474 East Atlantic Ave. Atco, NJ.




Friends of Mineralogy NJ Chapter– Freehold, New Jersey

Friends of Mineralogy of New Jersey is the NJ Chapter of the national Friends of Mineralogy organization whose objective is to promote, support, protect, and expand the collecting of mineral specimens, while furthering the recognition of the scientific, economic, and aesthetic value of minerals and mineral collecting.

Morris Museum Mineralogical Society – Morristown, New Jersey

The Morris Museum Mineralogical Society (MMMS) was founded in 1971 to promote interest and education in the various earth sciences and, in particular, the subjects of geology, mineralogy, paleontology, lapidary and related subjects.

North Jersey Mineralogical Society – Paterson, New Jersey

The North Jersey Mineralogical Society is a Charter member, and one of the original founding clubs of the Eastern Federation of Mineralogical and Lapidary Societies and is affiliated with the American Federation of Mineralogical Societies. Our goal is to bring together people who have a common interest in the study of earth sciences and mineral collecting in the Northern New Jersey area. Our mission is to educate our membership and others on how to preserve and document the geology and mineralogy of Northern New Jersey as well as to collect and preserve representative specimens from the area.
