ERYTHRITE

Erythrite, a cobalt arsenate hydrate mineral, was reported from Franklin by French (1953). Hendricks (1960) reported it as light violet red clusters of fibrous crystals, associated with galena, calcite, and malachite on a specimen from Mine Hill. It was reported to be Ni-free and Fe-free and to contain major Co and As. Erythrite has been found sporadically in minor amounts at Sterling Hill, where it occurs as bright pink to light pink clusters (0.5-1.0 mm) of microscopic crystals on fracture surfaces in franklinite/willemite ore. It has also been found as pink 1-2 mm rosettes with epidote on the 1400 level. (Dunn, 1995)
